Well within an hour of my last post here I discovered Tumblr and after playing with it for a day I've decided to ditch this and move my Miss USA blogging exclusively to my Tumblr site, which you can access here >> http://pageantupdate.tumblr.com
It makes no sense to run two blogs and Tumblr offers me a much wider & easier range of ways to share content. There's already over a dozen videos and news articles and photos that have caught my interest. So bookmark Pageant Update's tumblr for all the news & goss in the leadup to and during Miss USA!

MISS USA is upon us!!!
It's been a few months since I last posted here but expect more posts in the coming weeks as we gear up for Miss USA!
There have been a few titleholder changes since - congrats to Ashley Lynn Marble, the new Miss Maine USA and Jordan Marie Morkin, Miss Wisconsin USA 2011! Their profiles, as well as the profiles for all 49 other delegates have been updated with more photos from their state pageants & lots of new appearance photos. The girls have been busy! Find links to the other state titleholder profiles here.
The big excitement earlier in the week was the New York media tour. For the first time in recent years the titleholders were invited to New York for a three days of media appearances and volunteering with the USO for their 70th anniversary. All the photos from NYC can be seen on the pageant coverage index page (when the girls hit Vegas the pageant pics will all be found there too).

Congrats to Lakynn McBride, Miss Arkansas USA 2011 & Mary-Kate Hartley, Miss Arkansas Teen USA 2011!
Since I last posted we now have two new Arkansas titleholders =) Congrats to Lakynn McBride, Miss Arkansas USA 2011 & Mary-Kate Hartley Miss Arkansas Teen USA 2011... if you click their names you'll go to their profiles where you can see many more photos of them!

Speaking of Arkansas, even though this is primarily a USA website/blog I'd like to give a shoutout to the new Miss America Teresa Scanlan and her first runner-up, Arkansas' Alyse Eady. Unfortunately I was camping with no phone/internet coverage this weekend but by all accounts it was a great show. I am very impressed with Teresa's handling of the post-pageant press conference (note to MUO, can you please broadcast this too?) and wish those complaining about her age would heed the opinion of former Miss America Debbye Turner when she said she asked Teresa to justify crowning such a youthful competitor, and later felt embarrassed to have asked the question. Age is just a number!
There may be a further lull in site updates until I return to Melbourne on 29 July, however I have made a few more changes today, adding the top five montages for Arkansas, Kansas and Georgia.

Yikes! Long time no update =)
Apologies for taking an unplanned blog hiatus :) I hope everyone had a happy holiday season, my parents are currently over so I've got less time to spend on my site these days, but still getting things done :)
When I left off Jaymie and Taylor had just won the Kansas titles. Their profiles are now up and each have a few photos (click on each name to view). This weekend the Arkansas titleholders will round out the 2011 class of 102 contestants!
The Miss side of my site has been updated a number of times, the headshots, gown, swimsuit and top five comparison pages are now completely up-to-date and all have only a few states missing now. I've also been able to add a number of top five montages, including MS, GA, NJ, PA, CT, SC & OK in recent weeks. Expect Hawaii & Kansas up in the next couple of days. The former teens page is also as complete as is currently possible, with 2006 winning the honours for most teens crossing over & the most successful group.
In addition to the comparison galleries I've added many new pageant and appearance photos to individual profile pages. I'm always on the lookout for more and appreciative of corrections and additions to bios and stats so if you would like to contribute please email xpageantupdate@gmail.com.
As well as these updates I've also freshened up the Miss USA coverage index to reflect a greater number of states.
The teen swimsuit, gown and headshots pages are all updated, with a top five group update planned soon. Once that's done my next major priority will be the teen profiles, as many are missing photos and have only the barest amount of info. Expect that process to start in the next week!

Congrats to Jaymie Stokes, Miss Kansas USA 2011 & Taylor Clark, Miss Kansas Teen USA 2011!
I'm at work so haven't had time to put profiles up but congrats to Jaymie Stokes, Miss Kansas USA 2011 & Taylor Clark, Miss Kansas Teen USA 2011! Jaymie is the third Miss Teen USA 2007 titleholder to win a Miss USA state title and the second this year. Her teen profile can be seen here.
Taylor is yet another NAM vet to win a 2011 USA title. She won the 2006 National American Miss Preteen title... and second runner-up was none other than Danielle Doty, Miss Texas Teen USA 2011!
First runner-up in Teen was Cora Schimke, 2ru Suzanne Smith, 3ru Katie Taylor and 4RU Kendall Schoenekase. In Miss Tracy Bowman was 1RU, 2ru was Staci Klinginsmith, 3ru Evelyn Johnson and 4ru Gentry Miller (yet again showing the strength of the 2006 Teens).
Expect profiles up later today!

Whilst I am happy for the winner my heart goes out to Marie-Lynn who made top five for the fifth time and first runner-up for the second. Her Miss record is now 1RU 11, T15 10, 4RU 09, 1RU 08, 4RU 07, however she has one year of eligibility left. I am equally sad for Kym Smith, who has aged out after placing 2RU 11, 1RU 10, 2RU 09, T15 08.
Expect the top five montages up later today =)
